One year after the events of Arkham Asylum, the plans that the Dark Knight found in a secret room in the series' previous title have come to fruition…
Former warden of the asylum – Quincy Sharpe – has taken the credit for stopping the Joker in his tracks and has used his notoriety to take the role of the mayor of Gotham City. Neither Arkham nor Blackgate Penitentiary have the capacity to house law-breakers and so Sharpe has transformed a slum area of the city, with military guarded perimeters to create Arkham City; a new home for the city's most notorious hoodlums and insane criminal masterminds. The villains contained have been granted free reign within the enclosure, on the condition that they do not attempt to escape.
As Batman however, you know it is unlikely that these adversaries will behave themselves and so you keep a keen eye over Gotham. Turns out this was a wise decision as you stumble across their plans – lead by Two-Face – to publically execute your love-hate foe that is Catwoman. There is only one way you can put a stop to these evil proceedings…it is time to enter Arkham City!

Explore Arkham City's virtual footprint – five times larger than that within Arkham Asylum – on foot or by soaring high above the skyline. The improved sandbox element adds to the experience without detracting players from immersing themselves in the role of the masked hero.
